Over Generations
Our story began in the 1950s, when Quentin’s grandfather, Mr. Basil Thompson, opened a car dealership in Louis Trichardt. Today, the original structure of the old Thompson’s Garage can still be seen in Rissik Street – a proud reminder of where it all started.
Forty years ago, in May 1986, Quentin’s father, Mr. Peter Thompson, together with his wife Lorraine, founded the Volkswagen dealership known as PJ Thompson t/a Thompson’s Motors in Louis Trichardt. Their vision, dedication, and hard work laid the foundation for what the business would become.
In 2001/2002, Peter built the current dealership with a small, handpicked team, further strengthening the business. Since May 2006, the dealership has proudly operated as PLSQ Automotive cc t/a Thompson’s Motors, incorporating their sons, Stanley and Quentin.
In June 2016, Quentin took over as Dealer Principal from Peter – a position he still proudly holds today.
Today, Thompson’s Motors remains a family-owned business with a legacy built on trust, dedication, and a passion for serving our community. As we celebrate 40 years as a Volkswagen dealer, we reflect on four decades of delivering quality vehicles, reliable service, and lasting customer relationships.
What began as a small family venture has grown into a well-established dealership, while still holding true to our core values: honesty, personal service, and genuine commitment to our customers. At Thompson’s VW, every customer is treated like family, and we take pride in helping generations of drivers find the perfect vehicle to suit their needs.
As we mark this milestone, we look ahead with confidence – continuing to provide exceptional service, trusted expertise, and the Volkswagen experience our customers know and rely on.
